Spiders Continue Skid Thanks to Wilson, Cardinals
St. Louis center fielder Preston Wilson was instrumental in his team's 12-3 win over the Cleveland Spiders. Wilson, who is tied for 8th in the FL in triples with 1, went 3-4 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Cardinals. Miguel Batista got the win, improving to 1-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Earning his 1st save for St. Louis was Francisco Cordova.

Wilson put St. Louis up, 11-3, when he hit a 3-run home run off Dario Veras in the bottom of the sixth. His 4th home run of the season helped the Cardinals capture the win.

Wilson told a St. Louis Daily News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The Spiders, now 4-14, continue their poor start.
