Whalers Edge Beasties, 4-3
The Hartford Whalers did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Bluff City Beasties at Wolves Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Bobby Chouinard, who captured player of the game honors. Hartford reliever John Wasdin got the win, raising his record to 4-0. Joey Long was tagged with the loss. The Whalers own a robust 65-38 mark.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Felipe Crespo came to bat in the bottom of the 14th. Facing Bluff City pitcher Ron Villone, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hartford on top, 4-3.

In postgame comments, Crespo said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
