Cruz Helps Whalers Run Win Streak to 5
The Hartford Whalers easily defeated the Savannah Swamp Foxes, 12-1, at Paradise Grounds, with designated hitter Jacob Cruz a main contributor to the win. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for Hartford. John Wasdin got the save, his 5th in 6 chances. The Whalers, at 71-40, have now won 5 straight.

It could have been a different outcome for Hartford, had it not been for Felipe Crespo, the 25-year old second baseman . Crespo contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Hartford up, 1-0.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Crespo said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
