Moonshiners Beat Visiting Cyclones, 7-2
|
Asheville rode a decent outing from starter Julio Santana to victory over the Brooklyn Cyclones at Torrance Grounds. The final score was 7-2. Brooklyn has now lost 5 consecutive games.
The Cyclones had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Moonshiners going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old shortstop Deivi Cruz came to the plate. Cruz hit a 2-run home run on a first pitch fastball from Brooklyn hurler Frankie Rodriguez. It was Cruz's 7th home run of the year.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Cruz said after the game.
