Otters Walk It Off for 79th Win of Season
|
Despite a fine performance by left fielder Ernie Young, the Ocean City Blue Crabs suffered a 6-5 loss to the Milwaukee Otters. Young was 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Milwaukee reliever Mike Myers was the winner. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was Milt Hill. Milwaukee goes to 79-38. The win puts them 4 games up in their division.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Milwaukee trailing 5-4, Tino Martinez hit a curveball from Jim Poole to right for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Otters had a walk-off win.
"The division is still up for grabs, but I like our chances," Martinez told the Milwaukee Herald.
