Otters Trip Blue Crabs in Extras
|
The Milwaukee Otters beat the Ocean City Blue Crabs, 6-5, at Stags Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Howard Battle, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-6 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Milwaukee reliever Jose Silva picked up the win, upping his record to 5-4. Jim Poole was saddled with the loss. The Blue Crabs, at 63-56, have lost 9 in a row.
Battle had a game-changing single in the bottom of the tenth. On a first pitch fastball from Julio Valera, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Otters a 6-5 lead. It was the 132nd hit of the year for Battle.
"This is a resilient bunch," said Milwaukee manager .
