Clippers Roll Over Whalers, 9-4

Columbus withstood an impressive performance by Hartford first baseman Felipe Crespo to defeat the Whalers, 9-4, at Mules Ballpark. Crespo went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. The 4th-place Clippers improved to 64-58.
The Clippers got a big at-bat from first baseman Travis Lee. For the game, Lee was 2-5 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 163rd hit of the season gave Columbus a 6-4 lead.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Lee told the Columbus Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
