Andrews Goes Off, But Chukars Win
The Idaho Falls Chukars outlasted Shane Andrews and the Salt Lake City Buzz, 10-8. Andrews was impressive in the loss. The Salt Lake City shortstop hit 3 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring three times. The winner was Steve Falteisek in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Mark Acre took the loss. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Chukars hope to make a postseason run.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Ed Giovanola came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Salt Lake City pitcher Donnie Elliott, he hit a 1-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Idaho Falls on top, 9-8.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Giovanola told the Idaho Falls News. "It's as simple as that."
