Storm Chasers Mow Down Sounds, 11-1
|
The Omaha Storm Chasers got a good effort from starter Calvin Maduro in defeating the Nashville Sounds at Maples Stadium. The final score was 11-1. Maduro, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6.2 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. The loss lowers the Nashville record to 4-5.
The Storm Chasers beat the Sounds with some clutch hitting. The single by Henry Blanco in the bottom of the fourth is a good example. With two down, Blanco gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he came through with the big hit.
"This is one game in a long season," said losing manager . "The sooner we can forget about it, the better."
