Great Day for Grace in Diamondbacks Win
The first-place Arizona Diamondbacks welcomed New York to Bank One Ballpark.

The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the New York Mets, 7-2, in United League action at Bank One Ballpark. Mark Grace received player of the game honors. The 11-year veteran was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Floyd Youmans, the winner, improved to 4-1. He held the Mets to 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 3.

Arizona took a 4-0 lead on Grace's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Jason Isringhausen in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Arizona to the win.

"We looked pretty good up and down," said Arizona manager Alen Maglajac.

Losses have been few and far between for the Mets, who are now 14-6.
