Victory Over Missions Takes New Orleans to 6-4
|
The New Orleans Brass knocked off the San Antonio Missions, 7-3, at Bay Hawks Ballpark. Jeff Frye, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason New Orleans won. The second baseman went 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The save was Jeff Tam's, his 1st. The win brings the Brass to 6-4, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Wes Helms hit a 2-run double off Gil Heredia in the bottom of the first, which put the Brass in front, 2-0. In addition to the double, Helms had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"I really like what we did out there today," Helms said after the game.
