Rainiers Mow Down Brass, 9-3
|
The Tacoma Rainiers powered past the New Orleans Brass, 9-3, at Premont Grounds. Chad Fonville was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times, to lead the charge. Amaury Telemaco got the win, improving to 4-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 2. The Rainiers bumped their record to 14-13 with this latest triumph.
The Rainiers got a big at-bat from right fielder Jose Guillen. For the game, Guillen went 1 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Tacoma a 2-0 lead.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Fonville said.
