Victory Over Missions Takes Naperville to 22-13
|
San Antonio second baseman Kelly Gruber was sensational. He was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Naperville beat the Missions, 6-3. Gruber was named the player of the game despite the loss. The Lazy Fisherman have an impressive 22-13 record.
Damon Hollins had a big run-scoring single for the Lazy Fisherman in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Naperville leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Vince Horsman and stroked the single to center. It was his 31st hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lazy Fisherman ahead, 2-0.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Hollins told the Naperville Daily.
