Multi-HR Day for Castilla as Padres Overpower Orioles, 9-1

San Diego third baseman Vinny Castilla had a 5-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Baltimore Orioles, 9-1. The winner was Ismael Valdez, who threw 124 pitches over 9 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 3 hits. The Orioles, now 3-19, continue their slow start.
With San Diego leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Castilla hit a 3-run home run off Baltimore hurler Kent Mercker. It was the 4th home run of the season for Castilla and put his team ahead, 5-0.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Castilla.
