Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Mo Vaughn, the San Antonio Missions suffered a 8-5 loss to the New Orleans Brass. Vaughn was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 3 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win was Gar Finnvold's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Vince Horsman took the loss for San Antonio . New Orleans occupies second place in the Pacific Central at 25-19.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Eric Chavez came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing San Antonio pitcher Dana Allison, he hit a full count cutter for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting New Orleans on top, 7-5.
