Brass Come Up Short at Naperville
|
The Naperville Lazy Fisherman beat the New Orleans Brass, 4-3, at Ballpark of Milton. Naperville right fielder Derrick May earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs. The winner was Naperville reliever Norm Charlton, now 1-0. The loser was Trevor Wilson. The Lazy Fisherman go to 37-27, putting them second in the Pacific West.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Marlon Anderson was at the plate when Naperville scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Lazy Fisherman to go in front, 4-2.
After the game, Naperville manager applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
