|
The Nashville Sounds topped the San Antonio Missions, 6-5, with right fielder Larry Sutton playing a big role. Sutton was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk for the Sounds in the win. Cliff Politte got credit for the win, improving to 2-11. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings. Jay Powell converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Calvin Pickering, who is tied for 5th in the PAC in home runs with 18, aided the Nashville cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Pickering told the Nashville Today.
