Giambi hits 2 home runs, Brass Move to 63-41
|
Getting a good performance from first baseman Jeremy Giambi, the New Orleans Brass defeated the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 9-4. Giambi hit 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice for the Brass. Trevor Wilson got the win, improving to 10-8. He pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Today's win puts New Orleans at 63-41, while Colorado Springs falls to 54-50.
Giambi contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for New Orleans in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-1, Giambi took a changeup from Bob Wolcott and stroked the home run to right. His 11th home run of the season allowed the Brass to leap in front, 5-3.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Giambi.
