Spiders Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Fans who gathered at Riverfront Stadium saw a good contest between the Cleveland Spiders and Cincinnati Reds.
The Cleveland Spiders picked up a win at Riverfront Stadium, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds, 4-3. Starting pitcher Salomon Torres, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Antonio Alfonseca, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Tommy Greene got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.
In the top of the 11th, Cleveland catcher Mickey Tettleton had a productive at-bat. With the bases empty and no one out, Tettleton stroked a solo home run to left. It made the score 4-3, Cleveland. For the game, he was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk.
In postgame remarks, Tettleton simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
Even with the win, the Spiders have a dismal 45-90 record.
