Close Win Moves Lazy Fisherman to 60-45
|
Naperville designated hitter Carlos Garcia was instrumental in his team's 7-6 win over the Nashville Sounds. Garcia, who is tied for 4th in the PAC in triples with 6, went 3-5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Lazy Fisherman. Charles Nagy went 6 innings for Naperville to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 earned runs. He scattered 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. His record improves to 9-9. Norm Charlton, credited with the save, is now 3 for 4 in save opportunities.
Naperville took the lead with two out in the top of the fifth when Derrick May stroked a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4 in favor of Naperville. For the day, May went 2 for 5 with a double.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Garcia, "but we got it done."
Nashville, at 46-59, has lost 4 straight.
