Tarantulas Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Brass
The New Orleans Brass got a superb performance from pitcher Paul Wagner. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Tucson. The Tarantulas won the game, 6-2. In spite of the loss, Wagner was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Tucson reliever Dave Veres got the win, raising his record to 4-4. Luis Aquino was tagged with the loss. The 4th-place Tarantulas improved to 52-60.

A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the eighth inning. That's when catcher Hector Villanueva hit a single. The Tarantulas went on to win.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Villanueva.
