Frye Goes Wild, But Buzz Win
The New Orleans Brass got a superb performance from second baseman Jeff Frye. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Salt Lake City. The Buzz won the game, 6-5. In spite of the loss, Frye was named the player of the game. He went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Salt Lake City reliever Donnie Elliott picked up the win, upping his record to 2-5. Jeff Tam shouldered the loss. Bob Howry converted his 20th save in 24 tries.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Jose Oliva came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing New Orleans pitcher Jeff Tam, he hit a first pitch slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Salt Lake City on top, 6-5.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Oliva told a Salt Lake City Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."

The 5th-place Buzz raised their record to 53-66.
