Victory Over Buzz Takes San Antonio to 74-46
|
The San Antonio Missions took Salt Lake City pitcher Mike Oquist's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Bella Vista Grounds. The final score had San Antonio getting past the Buzz, 2-1. Oquist went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 4. Jeff Pico got credit for the win, improving to 6-3. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. Mauro Gozzo got the save, his 29th in 30 chances.
With no one out in the top of the fifth, Scarborough Green hit a go-ahead 2-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and with it the Missions took a 2-1 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Green said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Missions have an impressive 74-46 record.
