Road Win Lifts Milwaukee to 2-1 Lead in DS
|
The Milwaukee Otters moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the Hartford Whalers on the road at Wolves Ballpark by a score of 7-5. Otters designated hitter Tony Graffanino was named player of the game after he went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win gives the Otters a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
The result might have been different for Milwaukee, had it not been for Howard Battle. The shortstop produced a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Otters ahead, 1-0. For the game, Battle had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Graffanino told the Milwaukee Herald. "It's as simple as that."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wolves Ballpark in Hartford. The scheduled starters for the game are Allen Watson for the Milwaukee Otters and Shawn Estes for the the Hartford Whalers.
