Naperville Win Evens Series at 1
|
With catcher Joe Ayrault leading the charge, the Naperville Lazy Fisherman got a road win over the San Antonio Missions, 5-3, in Game 2 of the Division Series today. Ayrault was 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 at Texans Stadium to help Naperville force a 1-1 tie in the best-of-5 series.
Naperville third baseman Chance Sanford had a key at-bat for the Lazy Fisherman in the top of the eighth inning. Facing San Antonio pitcher Bryce Florie, Sanford hit a 2-run single to make the score 5-3, Naperville. For the day, he went 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs.
"It was a solid team effort," said Ayrault after the game.
The next game is scheduled for Sunday, August 16th, 1998 in Naperville. The scheduled starters for the game are Derek Lilliquist for San Antonio and Frank Seminara for Naperville.
