River Rats, Brass Play 10 to Settle Game 1, Spokane Now Leads Series 1-0
|
The Spokane River Rats took the first game of the Division Series in dramatic fashion today, topping the New Orleans Brass 6-5 in an extra-inning walk-off win. River Rats designated hitter Junior Felix was selected player of the game, as he went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Spokane pinch hitter Michael Tucker, facing Luis Aquino, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the River Rats the 6-5 win.
"Every team in baseball loses," Brass manager said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Trevor Wilson for the New Orleans Brass and Doug Brocail for the the Spokane River Rats.
