River Rats Win to Extend Series Lead to 2-0
|
The Spokane River Rats moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today, downing the visiting New Orleans Brass at Foxes Ballpark by a score of 8-4. River Rats right-hander Doug Brocail was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the River Rats a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.
In the bottom of the sixth, Spokane first baseman Craig Paquette had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Paquette stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-1, Spokane. For the game, he went 1-4.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Brocail told the Spokane Chronicle.
The next game is set to be played Sunday, August 16th, 1998 at Bay Hawks Ballpark. The scheduled starters for the game are Bobby M Jones for Spokane and Steve Cooke for New Orleans.
