Danville Wins at Home to Take 4-3 Lead in CS
|
The Danville Dairy Daddies moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Hartford Whalers at Kernels Ballpark by a score of 4-2. Dairy Daddies right-hander Eric Plunk was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of shutout ball. The win gives the Dairy Daddies a 4-3 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Had Ray Durham not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Durham hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 3-0, in favor of the Dairy Daddies.
"I thought we played a nice game," Durham told the Danville Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
