Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Moises Alou, the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Las Vegas Angels, 10-5. Alou was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice for the Diamondbacks. Arizona, now 17-11, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Tony Gwynn drew 1 walk in 5 plate appearances for Arizona. In the bottom of the eighth, with the teams deadlocked, 5-5, Gwynn delivered for the Diamondbacks. His run-scoring walk put Arizona on top, 6-5.
In postgame comments to the Arizona Citizen, Gwynn said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
