Minnesota starter Pedro Astacio pitched effectively against the Kansas City Royals at Royals Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Paul Spoljaric earned the save for Minnesota, his 1st of the year. Losses have been rare for the Royals, who are now 23-7.

One significant plate appearance for Minnesota came with one out in the top of the fifth inning. Twins center fielder Darin Erstad hit a 2-run double, which helped Minnesota go on to win.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Erstad told the Minnesota Daily.
