Senators Prove Rude Guests, Win 5-2 at Baltimore
|
Senators first baseman Albert Belle put his stamp on his team's 5-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Belle went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk for Washington in the contest. Livan Hernandez went 7.1 innings for Washington to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 earned runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Troy Percival saved it for Washington.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington, had it not been for Carlos Beltran, the top prospect . Beltran contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Washington up, 4-0.
"We played hard and won," said Belle. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The Senators, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
