The Minnesota Twins got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Parris. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Philadelphia. The Phillies won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Parris was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Glendon Rusch, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 2-3. Paul Assenmacher closed it out for his 6th save.
Orlando Cabrera put Philadelphia in front, 3-2, when he hit a 3-run home run off Steve Parris in the bottom of the third. It was his 6th home run of the season.
"I felt good up there," said Cabrera. "I saw the ball well."
The Twins drop to 14-15 and continue their inconsistent start to the 1998 season.
