The Arizona Diamondbacks took Washington pitcher Kevin Millwood's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Bank One Ballpark. The final score had Arizona getting past the Senators, 3-1. Millwood went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 4. Arizona reliever Kelvim Escobar got the win, raising his record to 3-1. Kevin Millwood was tagged with the loss. Danny Patterson recorded the save for Arizona, his 7th of the season.
Arizona took a 3-1 lead on Steve Finley's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Washington pitcher Kevin Millwood in the bottom of the eighth.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Arizona manager Alen Maglajac said.
Losses have been few and far between for the Senators so far this season. Their record drops to 22-7.
