Marlins Win at Chicago, 6-3
|
The Florida Marlins picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Chicago Cubs, 6-3. On the mound for Florida was left-hander Wilson Alvarez, who played a pivotal role in the win. Alvarez went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Bryan Harvey recorded his 1st save for Florida.
The tension was thick in the bottom of the sixth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Chicago trailing 4-1, Wilson Alvarez had to get a big out. On a 2-2 slider, he retired Jose L Cruz, who grounded out.
At 3-0, the Marlins have played well so far.
