Knights Win in Glorious Fashion
The Charlotte Knights beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-5, at Comiskey Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Tony Batista, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Steve Shirley picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Paul Assenmacher was tagged with the loss. The Knights bumped their record to 23-11 with this latest triumph.

Orlando Merced was the walk-off hero for Charlotte. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Knights right fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"This joint was rocking," said Merced.
