Rockies Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
Los Angeles got a terrific game from designated hitter Ryan Klesko. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Colorado, 9-6. Klesko was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. Jaime Navarro picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 2-6. Getting the save was Joey Eischen, his 11th.
With one out in the top of the fourth, Alex Cora stroked a go-ahead grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put Colorado in front, 5-2.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Cora told the Colorado Bulletin. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
The 5th-place Rockies have won 4 consecutive games.
