Dodgers Prove Rude Guests, Win 6-3 at Detroit
The Dodgers faced a stiff challenge from Detroit pitcher Felipe Lira, but persevered to claim a win at Tiger Stadium. The final score was 6-3. Lira went 8.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Ramiro Mendoza earned the win for Los Angeles. He lasted 5.2 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 6 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 1-0. It could have been a different outcome for Los Angeles, had it not been for Rafael Palmeiro, the two-time Gold Glove winner . Palmeiro contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Los Angeles up, 2-1.
