Spiders Walk It Off for 12th Win of Season
|
The Cleveland Spiders defeated the Florida Marlins, 8-6, at League Park. Cleveland third baseman Kevin Mitchell was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Even with the win, the Spiders have a dismal 12-25 record.
Raul Ibanez changed the game with one swing of the bat. With two out in the bottom of the 11th, the Cleveland designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run off Paul Shuey. It was his 10th home run of the season. With it, Cleveland took the lead, 8-6.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Ibanez said.
