Mets Get Close Win Over Senators
The Mets had to overcome a good performance from Washington pitcher Javier Vazquez to claim a 3-2 win at RFK Stadium. Vazquez went 9 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The Mets move to 20-20 with the win, while the Senators drop to 27-13.

With two out in the top of the ninth, B.J. Surhoff put New York in front, 3-2, with a solo home run. The Mets went on to win the ballgame.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Surhoff.
