Creams Hold Off Cardinals, 5-4

The St. Louis Cardinals got a sterling performance from right fielder Karim Garcia, but the Creams still prevailed, 5-4. Garcia was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Matt Young went 7 innings for Milwaukee to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 4 earned runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 6. His record improves to 2-5. Jeff Calhoun earned the save for Milwaukee, his 11th of the year.
The Creams got a big at-bat from second baseman Mark Loretta. For the game, Loretta was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 46th hit of the season gave Milwaukee a 5-4 lead.
"It feels good to get this one," Loretta told the Milwaukee Herald.
Milwaukee is now 19-22, while St. Louis is 21-20.
