The Florida Marlins faced a tough opponent in Milwaukee pitcher Wally Whitehurst, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Milwaukee County Stadium by a final score of 3-2. Whitehurst went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Bryan Harvey closed the door for Florida, picking up his 9th save of the year. Florida has an impressive 29-14 record.

It could have been a different outcome for Florida, had it not been for Rondell White, the former first round draft pick . White contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Florida up, 3-1.
