The Cincinnati Reds relied on the hitting of designated hitter Bobby Higginson to stop the Kansas City Royals, 12-3. For the game, Higginson belted 3 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring three times. The second-place Reds improved to 27-19.

It could have been a different outcome for Cincinnati, had it not been for Scott Rolen, the two-time Gold Glove winner . Rolen contributed a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put Cincinnati up, 5-1.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Rolen said.
