Cubs Lose, 5-2, at League Park
|
Cleveland left fielder Rudy Pemberton was a significant contributor in his team's 5-2 triumph over the Chicago Cubs. He was 1 for 3 with a triple and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Cleveland. Salomon Torres got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. Picking up the save was Steve Karsay, his 4th.
With Cleveland leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Pemberton hit a sinker from Scott Chiamparino for a 2-run triple. It was his 4th triple of the season and put the Spiders ahead, 3-0.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Pemberton.
The Spiders, now 15-32, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
