Diamondbacks Raise Rally Flag, Beat Baltimore, 5-4
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks took Baltimore pitcher Ramon J. Martinez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Bank One Ballpark. The final score had Arizona getting past the Orioles, 5-4. Martinez went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run, striking out 5. Arizona reliever Bryan Rekar picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Heathcliff Slocumb took the loss. Baltimore, at 7-41, has lost 5 straight.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Arizona second baseman Delino DeShields, facing Radhames Dykhoff, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Diamondbacks the 5-4 win.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," DeShields told the Arizona Citizen.
