Phillies Need Extra Frames to Get Past Cubs
The Philadelphia Phillies did just enough to secure a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs at Yankee Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Glendon Rusch, who captured player of the game honors. The Phillies, now 23-27, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.

Ryan Thompson had a nice at-bat for the Phillies with one out in the bottom of the 11th. With the bases empty, the right fielder hit a walk-off solo home run, which would prove important in the Philadelphia win.

"This was a good win," said Rusch.
