Spiders Edge Creams, 4-3
The Cleveland Spiders beat the Milwaukee Creams, 4-3, at League Park. The Spiders got a fine performance from third baseman Kevin Mitchell, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. The win was credited to Jose Jimenez in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Jim Neidlinger took the loss. Steve Karsay nailed down his 5th save.

Mitchell had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-1 fastball from Jim Neidlinger, he banged a solo home run to right, giving the Spiders a 4-3 lead. It was the 22nd home run of the year for Mitchell.

"This was a good win," said Mitchell.

Even with the win, the Spiders have a dismal 16-33 record.
