Devil Rays Beat Knights in 10
|
The Orlando Devil Rays eked out a 3-2 win versus the Charlotte Knights at Orlando Citrus Bowl. Nobody did more than pitcher Alan Benes, who captured player of the game honors. The winner was Alan Embree in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Chad Fox took the loss. Orlando is now 27-23.
Brian Jordan, who led the FL in triples with 10 in 1993, chipped in for Orlando with a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Orlando manager Ben Tennyson.
