Diamondbacks Edge Tigers, 8-7
The Arizona Diamondbacks stopped the Detroit Tigers, 8-7, behind an impressive performance from Fernando Tatis. The former first round draft pick made life miserable for Detroit pitching. He went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Arizona reliever Bryan Rekar picked up the win to move to 3-0. Brad Clontz suffered the loss. Arizona has a 6-game win streak, while Detroit has lost 3 in a row.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Detroit pitcher Steve J Kline, he hit a 2-0 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Arizona on top, 8-7.

In postgame comments, Alomar Jr. said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
