Spiders Get Road Win, 6-4
The Cleveland Spiders faced a tough opponent in St. Louis pitcher Mark Portugal, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Busch Stadium by a final score of 6-4. Portugal went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Cleveland reliever Mike Draper picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Mariano Rivera was saddled with the loss. The losing streak for St. Louis has now reached 4 games.

The Spiders got a big at-bat from second baseman Chris Stynes, who in the top of the seventh hit a run-scoring single. It was his 17th hit of the season and put the Spiders on top, 4-3.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Stynes told the Cleveland Today.
