Marlins Win in Extras
|
Spirited fans at Riverfront Stadium greeted the Cincinnati Reds for their clash with the Florida Marlins.
The Florida Marlins downed the Cincinnati Reds, 6-4, in 10 innings. Richie Sexson led the way, going 3-for-5 for Florida. Florida reliever Bryan Harvey was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Rich Croushore.
Sexson had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 0-1 fastball from Rich Croushore, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Marlins a 6-4 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Sexson.
"We played hard and won," said Sexson. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Florida leads the Federal League East Division by 4 games.
